DACROMET is a water-based, inorganic, zinc-aluminum dispersion coating consisting of overlapping zinc and aluminum flakes in a chromium-oxide binder system. The zinc and aluminum platelets are arranged in multiple layers forming a metallic silver gray coating.
DACROMET is often applied to small and medium-sized metal parts, e.g. fasteners and stampings. These parts can be coated in bulk using the dip-spin process.
DACROMET is followed by a 15 minute curing cycle of the basecoat at
roughly 321°C (610°F) part metal temperature. After the sealer is applied, by either spray or immersion, the components undertake a 15 minutes curing cycle at approximately 177°C (350°F) part metal temperature.
